Patterson Cheney Toyota Supported Rotary District in Securing a Car for Servants Community Housing!

July 14, 2023

We are thrilled to announce that Patterson Cheney Toyota has joined forces with Rotary District 9800 to make a significant impact in our community! Their generous support has enabled Servants Community Housing to acquire a much-needed car, contributing to the betterment of the lives of Melbourne’s most marginalised individuals.

Since its establishment in 1986, Servants Community Housing has been an unwavering beacon of hope, providing safe and caring rooming house accommodation to those who have experienced homelessness. This incredible organisation caters to individuals on low incomes, many of whom rely on Disability Pensions, and have endured hardships such as trauma and domestic violence.

With private rooms and two daily meals, Servants homes offer not only physical shelter but also a supportive and nurturing environment. The presence of live-in house managers further fosters a sense of community and ensures that residents feel cared for.

Over the years, Servants Community Housing has witnessed incredible growth, expanding from one house to four, now providing homes for a total of 95 single people. Notably, they also run a female-only house, recognizing the specific needs of women facing difficult circumstances.

One of the most remarkable aspects of Servants’ model is its high demand, especially among people living with mental illness, who often face the burden of societal stigma. The shared living setup proves to be a transformative and healing space, offering much-needed support and combating the isolating effects of loneliness.

Beyond the physical shelter, Servants Community Housing also bridges the gap by connecting residents with external professional services and local volunteers, providing activities and companionship that enrich their lives and instil a sense of belonging.

With an inspiring vision, Servants aims to create even more housing communities, striving to alleviate the misery of loneliness and offering respect, dignity, and hope to those who deserve it most.

Thanks to Rotary District, and the incredible team at Servants Community Housing for their dedication and commitment to making a difference in the lives of others!
